Eating Disorders
Eating Disorders can affect people of both sexes and at any age although young adults appear to be most at risk. There are three main types of eating disorder:-

Anorexia Nervosa involves self-starvation to promote excessive weight loss. This eating disorder is very serious and is potentially life threatening.

Bulimia Nervosa involves cyclic binge eating, followed by behaviours such as self-induced vomiting, designed to undo or compensate for the effects of the binge eating. This eating disorder is also very serious and potentially life threatening.

Binge Eating Disorder involves regular binge eating without subsequent compensatory behaviours.

Whilst the sufferer of an eating disorder is often pre-occupied by weight and body image, the underlying cause can be due to a range of physical, emotional, social, and familial issues, all of which need to be addressed for effective prevention and treatment.

Hypnotherapy, Psychotherapy and Counselling can help to address these issues and I always work in conjunction with your GP where appropriate.
